Asia's first Radisson Blu debuts in the central Philippine city of Cebu. The 400-room Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu opens on September 27, 2011, positioned as an "upper upscale" hospitality provider and powered by the teaming up of the Carlson group and SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation.
"Business Class", a comprehensive new service philosophy recently rolled out by Carlson (see news), offers use of the Radisson Club Lounge with complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails, express check-in and check-out, meeting room use and room upgrades among others.
Interiors will feature strong use of local, natural elements such as woodwork carvings, weavings and pearls. All guestrooms will be equipped with 37-inch flat-screen TVs and iPod docking stations. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in all public areas.
As the gateway to southern Philippines, Cebu is a popular leisure and convention destination, which the new Radisson Blu will leverage on. Its main restaurant Feria will serve buffets throughout the day, while The Pool restaurant by the free-form swimming pool offers freshly grilled seafood.
Events can take place in the Santa Maria Grand Ballroom with its 8m-high ceiling and a capacity for 1,200 persons, classroom style, or the Nina Ballroom with its 5m-high ceiling and a capacity for 650 persons, classroom style. There are also 10 function rooms with a capacity from 10 to 80 persons. These various spaces open up to a central plaza that encourages networking.
Another plus for the hotel is its location beside SM City Cebu Mall, a massive commercial and shopping complex.
