Marriott-owned luxury hotel brand Ritz-Carlton is to launch a loyalty scheme, according to reports in the US media.
The Wall Street Journal and USA Today report that the new Ritz-Carlton Rewards scheme will be officially unveiled later today (Tuesday September 14), and will offer points redeemable against stays at Ritz-Carlton properties, as well as “exclusive experiences” through partners including Abercrombie and Kent, and fashion designer Vera Wang.
USA Today reports that customers can be a member of either the existing Marriott Rewards or the new Ritz-Carlton Rewards schemes, but not both, although Marriott members will be given the opportunity to switch across to the new scheme.
The news comes hot on the heels of Marriott’s announcement that it will extend its free internet access for elite Rewards members. Previously available at hotels within South and North America, the benefit will be extended worldwide from next January (see online news September 14).
