Incheon International Airport (IIAC) has announced details of Phase 3 of its development.
Studies are now being commissioned on air traffic demand, air traffic and telecommunication facilities as well as airport design for the second terminal complex. Construction is expected to begin in 2012 and finish in 2015.
The future air hub will measure 350,000sqm and feature 65 aircraft aprons and 21 cargo aprons as well as a 1.1km link joining Terminal 1 and 2, an additional parking lot able to hold 5,914 cars and an expanded cargo terminal.
After completion, IIAC is expected to have an annual handling capacity of 62 million passengers
IIAC officials said the project would incorporate a low-carbon, green-growth policy aimed at preserving the environment. This would involve using efficient equipment and finding fresh ways to renew energy.
