Starwood Hotels and Resorts will open two new Four Points by Sheraton properties in the Indian cities of Pune and Visakhapatnam later this year.
The announcement is part of a major expansion plan for Starwood’s mid market Four Points and Aloft brands in India, with the group saying it is on track to to grow its existing portfolio of 26 hotels in the country by 60 per cent by 2013.
Starwood has signed an agreement with D.I.H (Cyprus) Limited, an affiliate of Duet India Hotels Ltd, to manage two new-build Four Points by Sheraton properties in Pune and Visakhapatnam, both of which are due to open in October.
Four Points by Sheraton Pune will be located on Nagar Road, and will feature 216 rooms (168 hotel guestrooms and 48 serviced apartments), as well as two food and beverage outlets, and 10,500 square feet of meeting space.
Four Points by Sheraton Visakhapatnam meanwhile will have 122 rooms, three restaurants and a bar, as well as swimming pool and spa facilities, a business centre and over 6,000 square feet of meeting space. Visakhapatnam is located on the east coast of India, and is the largest city in the state of Andra Pradesh, with around 1.3 million inhabitants.
Starwood’s Four Points brand now totals over 150 properties in 24 countries, with signature features including free internet access and bottled water.
