11 Aug 2010 by BusinessTraveller

German carrier Air Berlin will offer flights from London to the Austrian city of Salzburg this winter, joining Ryanair and BA on the route.

The four-times weekly Air Berlin service will be plied with a 144-seater A319 aircraft, with flights starting on December 1 and departing Stansted on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 1410, and from Salzburg at 1230.

Ryanair currently offers a four-times weekly service from Stansted to the birthplace of Motzart, while BA also flies four times per week from Gatwick.

The new Stansted-Salzburg route will be the sixth direct Air Berlin service from the UK, and the only one outside Germany. The carrier currently serves Dusseldorf, Nuremburg, Munster and Hanover from London Stansted, and Paderborn from Stansted and Manchester.
