Asiana Airlines has put its new Business class product, branded as OZ Quadra Smartium, on Boeing B777-200ER services between Seoul Incheon and selected destinations San Francisco, Los Angeles and Beijing.
The fully lie-flat beds, which make up some First Class cabins on routes such as Seoul Incheon-Frankfurt (see news), fill a staggered layout, allowing each passenger access to the aisle. There are 24 seats on this B777, and the distance between seats is 15 inches.
Seat features include a rotating dining table and drinks table next to the seat – useful for laptops and newspapers – storage for shoes, power adapter and a connection for one's USB stick. Meals are prepared by Chef Edward Kwon, formerly of Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel.
Asiana is currently investing US$15 million to equip more B777 aircraft with the new product to feature on future flights to the US and Europe by May of next year.
It plans to make the Airbus 350XWB model, the next fuel efficient aircraft promised by Airbus, the core of its fleet. It intends to order 30 of them, worth US$6.7 billion, from 2016.
