Ningbo, one of China’s most important seaports and logistics hubs, is to see two new Pan Pacific properties open by the end of 2011.
The opening of the 430-room Pan Pacific Ningbo and the 200-room Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Ningbo are part of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s Greater Shanghai strategy, which is concentrating on China’s commercial capital and the surrounding secondary business cities, such as Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shaoxing.
Located in a mixed-used development owned by Ningbo International Trade Investment and Development Company, the area will also include the Ningbo International Conference Exhibition Centre. The conference centre will feature 10 main halls, totaling over 600,000sqm.
The development is in the heart of a newly developed commercial district and up-market residential area.
Ningbo is in the Chinese province of Zhejiang. It is the second largest port in China after Shanghai and the third largest port in the world by cargo tonnage. The city is home to the Ningbo Free Trade Zone, one of 15 such specially designated areas in China.
