Thai AirAsia has suspended flights from Phuket to Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam and Medan in Indonesia due to weak demand.
Both routes began late last year but have been suspended this month. Chief executive Tassapon Bijleveld told the Bangkok Post newspaper that the suspension was temporary and the airline hoped to restart them once demand returned.
The airline has been hit by travel bans from various countries, including Vietnam, during the recent political upheavals.
However, the airline is to increase two domestic services from the island to northern Thailand.
Starting from June 21, Thai AirAsia will double the frequency on its Phuket-Chiang Mai service to twice a day. The Phuket-Udon Thani route, now with four flights a week, will become daily.
Thai AirAsia has stated that it aims to make Phuket its second key hub after Bangok.
