Waldorf Astoria Shanghai On The Bund expects to open its doors in late July on the city’s famous riverfront area, which runs along the western banks of the Huangpu River. In a phased opening, the hotel will first unleashed The Waldorf Astoria Club, which will occupy a meticulously restored heritage building that used to house the iconic Shanghai Club circa 1920s.

Waldorf Astoria Club will contain 20 luxurious suites donned in classic European style. Standard room features include walk-in closets, marble-finished bathroom with duble vanity, claw-foot bathtubs and separate shower, in-room entertainment and complimentary internet among others. There will be four F&B outlets. One restaurant will serve New York-inspired American cuisine and the other will serve regional Chinese cuisines. The Salon lounge is designed for high-tea and intimate gathering, while the Long Bar is ideal for lunch meetings and evening cocktails. The Long Bar will showcase an impressive 110-foot bar-top counter, which will be a replica of the original 1911 piece.

For business events, the ballroom on the second floor will open into an alfresco balcony overlooking The Bund’s waterfront promenade. The hotel complex will also have eight additional function spaces for events of various sizes.

Waldorf Astoria Club is one of two buildings that will comprise the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai On The Bund. The second edifice will be a hotel tower featuring 249 guestrooms located on Sichuan Road behind The Bund. Set to open in Q4 of 2010, it will be connected to the Waldorf Astoria Club by a manicured courtyard adorned with lush landscaping and fountains.
