Raffles unveils Tianjin property

Raffles Hotels and Resorts has opened it second property in China, with the unveiling of a 116-room hotel in the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin.

The property occupies floors 36-50 of the Tiajin Centre skyscraper in the business and retail district, and features the city’s highest penthouse suite, located on the 48th floor.

There are five restaurants and lounges, including CitySpace, a 50th floor cigar and cocktail lounge, and Sou, a Japanese / European restaurant on the 48th floor, while leisure facilities include a spa, swimming pool and gym. 

For meetings there are seven function rooms, plus a sixth floor 552sqm grand ballroom, and the hotel says it is also the first in the city to offer 24 hour business concierge and butler services.

Tianjin is the sixth largest city in China, with a municipality population of around 12 million people. Tianjin Binhai International Airport is served by carriers including Air China, Air Asia X, Asiana Airlines, China Eastern and Southern Airlines, Eva Air, JAL and Korean Air.

Raffles Tianjin joins the group’s Beijing property in China, with a future hotel also under development in Sanya in the country’s southern Hainan province. Elsewhere Raffles is due to open properties in Paris and Mecca later this year.
