Swissotel enters India with a Kolkata hotel

9 May 2010

Swissôtel Kolkata Neotia Vista leads the way for the Swiss hospitality chain to expand in India.

Located in the eastern part of the subcontinent and formerly known as Calcutta, the city was the capital of the British Raj until 1912. It is renowned for its literary, artistic and revolutionary character and strong sense of community.

Once in operation, Swissotel beefs up Kolkata's branded hotel market, which has been dominated by home-grown groups ITC Welcom, Oberoi and Taj. There is a Hyatt, and Starwood’s Westin Kolkata Rajarhat is planning a December 2012 launch.

Guests checking in from June 15 to September 15, 2010 can apply for introductory rates from INR7,500 (US$161.81) for the Classic Room, including daily buffet breakfast at Café Swiss for up two persons, one buffet dinner for two persons at Café Swiss (one time useage per stay) and 4pm check-out. A minimum two-night stay is required and the offer cannot be used in conjunction with other promotions.

Located in New Town, just a few minutes from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, the hotel will have 147 guestrooms and suites, four dining options, extensive meetings space, while recreation facilities include a fitness centre, spa and rooftop with a view of the urban skyline.
