We may be getting ahead of ourselves, but after a winter like this one – who can blame us. Starting this weekend, our occasional – and very select – guide to the best of outdoor Central London drinking and dining....
As part of its £80 million refurbishment, the Langham London has a new courtyard garden at the front of the hotel just off Portland Place and only a two-minute walk from Oxford Circus. Raised beds and planters are filled with box hedges giving the feel of an English courtyard garden, while banquette seating with over-sized cushions and rattan-styled furniture offer lots of places to relax, and the location is right in the centre of London, yet set back far enough from the roads to give you a sense of privacy and quiet.
The Terrace Garden also has a dedicated lounge and bar for guests wishing to be indoors (or when it rains) and a large flatscreen plasma screen for watching the FIFA World Cup or Wimbledon.
The bar will open on Monday June 15 in time for Royal Ascot, and will be available 4pm-11pm, Monday to Saturday. Drinks promised are classic Champagne cocktails, premium spirits and themed sharing food platters including an Arabic meze platter. Selected cigars from Davidoff will be available.
