Philippine Airlines rolls out anniversary promotions

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is celebrating its 70th anniversary in March 2011 a year early with a series of promotions that promise up to 70,000 free seats on various PAL flights as well as discounted fares.

The major seat raffle includes all customers who purchase PAL revenue tickets in the Philippines and via its website for travel between now and December 31, 2010. Prizes include free tickets for routes equivalent to those in tickets bought and flown. A total of 16,000 winners will be chosen during nine monthly raffle draws.

Free travel in certain times of the year to well-known domestic points such as Cebu, Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro in the campaign “Philippines Free” are offered passengers using PAL’s international services. The ticket sale for this campaign is until April 7.,

Also available during the entire celebratory year are reduced fares to domestic destinations, flights from Japan to Manila and selected domestic destinations, regional and international points that PAL flies to.

PAL was established by a group of prominent Filipino businessmen on February 16, 1941. On March 15, a Beech Model 18 aircraft carrying five passengers took off from Nielson airfield in Makati (now the Philippines’ Wall Street district) bound for the hill station of Baguio City. Today, the ailine has a fleet of 41 all-jet aircraft that fly to 44 domestic and international routes.
