Armani Hotel Dubai resets opening date

20 Mar 2010

Armani Hotel Dubai did not open as expected on March 18, this week. Instead its debut has been moved to April 22, with guests checking in on April 24.

No reason was provided by hotel management nor by developer Emaar.

Occupying levels 1 to 8 and 38 to 39 of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, guestrooms have been designed by the iconic designer Georgio Armani. The tower, which was originally named Burj Dubai, was renamed Burj Khalifa after Abu Dhabi's ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan, following financial aid by the neighbouring emirate. It also includes 150 residences that have been put on the market.

Emaar Properties and the Giorgio Armani company went into a joint-venture and set up Armani Hotels and Resorts in 2005. The Dubai Armani is to be the first of 10. The second Armani Hotel is planned for Milan, base of the Armani company, and is also due to open this year. Additional hotels and resorts are scheduled for New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and London.
