Skype offers free-WiFi weekend Internet-based telecoms provider Skype is offering users free WiFi access at over 100,000 hotspots worldwide this weekend.
The offer will be available from 0000 GMT on Saturday March 20 to 2359 GMT on Sunday 21 March. Skype’s promotion is to showcase Skype Access, a feature that allows users WiFi access using Skype credit. Skype says the system is both cheaper than most paid-for alternatives and more flexible than paying hourly fees. Skype Access charges on a per minute basis at a fee of US$0.19 per minute.
Users may have to download the latest version of Skype from its homepage to ensure Skype Access functions are available.
