Domestic US carrier Virgin America has announced plans to launch international flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Toronto, as well as new routes to Orlando International airport.
The carrier (in which the Virgin Group is a minority shareholder) operates from around a dozen US airports including Las Vegas, New York, Boston and Washington DC, and will add daily flights from both Los Angeles and San Francisco to Orlando in August.
Virgin America has also announced its “intent to serve Toronto Pearson International Airport with daily flights from both LAX and SFO as early as June 2010”, subject to approval from the US Department of Transportation.
The carrier is due to take delivery of six new aircraft this year, and says it will announce three new routes in 2010 aside from the Orlando and Toronto destinations.
