Lufthansa pilots call off their strike

23 Feb 2010

Lufthansa pilots are returning to the cockpit just one day into an intended four-day strike. However, airline officials said it was keeping its announced contingency schedule in place, admitting it would take "a few days" to get operations back to normal.

Both the pilots' union and Lufthansa management agreed late last night to resume negotiations that earlier reached an impasse, resulting in hundreds of flights cancelled yesterday, February 22, 2010. The industrial action, which saw over 4,000 pilots walking off the job, was to have lasted until Thursday, February 25, 2010.

Before going to the airport, travellers are again advised to consult their travel agents or log on to www.lufthansa.com for the latest updates.
