Pilots with German carrier Lufthansa are set to stage a four-day walkout next week, after members of the Cockpit union voted overwhelmingly for strike action.
Over 93 per cent of members voted in favour of the walkout, which is due to take place from Monday February 22 until Thursday February 25. The strike will affect services operated by Lufthansa, as well as subsidiary Germanwings and Lufthansa Cargo operations.
The strike has been called after talks over pay and restructuring broke down, and the walkout is set to take place in the same week as the results of the latest ballot on strike action by BA staff are due to be announced.
Lufthansa says it expects “heavy influences to its flight operations”, and has provided details on its website for passengers booked on services during the strike period.
