Baboo rosters Embraer 190 aircraft onto LCY route

10 Feb 2010 by Mark Caswell

Swiss carrier Baboo has become the first airline to serve London City airport with the Embraer 190 aircraft, rostering the jet onto its Geneva-LCY route.

LCY saw the arrival of the Embraer 170 last year, when BA Cityflyer began replacing its Avro RJ aircraft serving the airport (see online news September 4, 2009).

The British Airways subsidiary will also be taking delivery of the 190 version later this year, but in the meantime Baboo has become the first carrier to operate the aircraft on a commercial flight into LCY, having received certification for a steep approach option for the aircraft on February 2.

Baboo currently operates two Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400 and three Embraer 190 aircraft to 18 destinations from Geneva, including eleven weekly flights to London City.
