International return fares of Japan Airlines (JAL) and ANA are expected to rise from April 1, 2010. Both carriers have just filed the revision with the government, and according to a JAL spokesperson “unless there is anything dramatically wrong with it, it should proceed as per applied for”.
JAL will be increasing full-price fares on travel between Tokyo and Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, North, South and Central America, Hawaii, Southeast Asia and India. Below are two examples:
• Tokyo-London for First Class from JPY2,204,100 (US$24,678) to JPY2,507,900 (US$28,080); Business Class from JPY1,173,200 (US$13,136) to JPY1,200100 (US$13,661); and Economy Class from JPY853,600 (US$9,557) to JPY920,100 (US$10,302)
• Tokyo-Sydney for First Class remains at JPY1,186,100 (US$13,280); Business Class remains at JPY775,300 (US$8,680); and Economy Class remains at JPY625,800 (US$7,006) but the PEX (published discounted fares) goes from from JPY307,000 (US$3,437) to JPY329,000 (US$3,683)
ANA is raising full-price fares between Tokyo and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Below are examples of prices to three European hubs:
• Tokyo-London for First Class from JPY2,204,100 (US$24,678) to 2,507,900 (US$28,080); Business Class from JPY1,173,200 (US$13,136) to 1,220,100 (US$13,661); and Economy Class from JPY853,600 (US$9,557) to JPY920,100 (US$10,302)
• Tokyo-Paris for First Class from JPY2,223,300 (US$24,893) to JPY2,541,800 (US$28,460); Business Class from JPY1,173,200 (US$13,136) to 1,1220,100 (US$13,661); and Economy Class from JPY853,600 (US$9,557) to JPY920,100 (US$10,302)
• Tokyo-Frankfurt for First Class from JPY2,204,100 (US$24,678) to JPY2,507,900 (US$28,080), Business Class from JPY1,220,100 (US$13,661) to JPY1,266,000 (US$14,175); and Economy Class at JPY920,100 (US$10,302) remains the same
