A new portal, www.southeastasia.org, is the latest information tool from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) that is eager to promote the idea of multi-destination holidays.
Launched at the ongoing Asean Tourism Forum in Brunei, it features an interactive map to facilitate planning and budgeting multi-destination itineraries and activities. It also comes with a sophisticated search engine for flights and hotels.
Content revolves along four themes: beach, nature and wildlife; cruise, tour and rail; culture and heritage; and even an education and volunteering component. Countries where these offerings are available are highlighted.
This approach, Asean tourism officials hope, will spark demand for niche-focused products and experiences.
Asean is made up of the nations of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
