Chengdu welcomes a Regal Hotel

25 Jan 2010

The arrival of Regal Master Hotel Chengdu, Regal Hotel International’s latest China addition, can only be described as timely.

General manager Anthony Mirza said: “The earthquake of 2008 was of course a setback but since then, the city has bounced back very quickly. There are a lot of manufacturing activities happening, and many of the Fortune 500 companies are moving in.”

An established presence with six properties in Hongkong and three in Shanghai, the Regal group is capitalising on its brand recognition with Mainland customers to translate into firm bookings. Adds Mirza: “We have the hardware. We are new. Our rooms at 38sqm are large (for the city).”

The property, located in an emerging commercial district – south of what is normally labeled “downtown” – has 350 rooms, including 29 suites and Regal Club Floors equipped with all the mod cons of Wi-Fi capability and flat-screens.

To capture a slice of the meetings and conference sector, it boasts a pillarless ballroom able to accommodate 650 guests for a reception and 400 guests for a banquet.

To whet the market's curiosity, an introductory rate of CNY668 (US$98) is offered until March 14, 2010 that includes a one-night stay in a superior room with buffet breakfast for one, which is extended to two persons on weekends.
