Rendezvous Hotels seeks wider Asian footprint

28 Dec 2009

The Singapore-based Rendezvous Hospitality Group (RHG) may have a stronger presence in Australia and New Zealand, but it’s now keen to expand in Asia with an eye on the corporate sector.

For a start, they have repositioned their Rendezvous and The Marque brands as quality four-star business hotels. Rendezvous is targeting senior executives, while The Marque with its funky interiors aims to interest that level of employees who are trend and tech savvy.

Whatever the market, Iqbal Jumabhoy, CEO of RGH, said: “We have taken considerable care to properly understand what the business traveller is looking for in a hotel.

“It’s mainly about delivering service, especially ensuring that all the facilities in the hotel work seamlessly, from check in to laundry to the business centre. Internet should be standard, not a benefit – many hotel chains make it expensive or difficult to hook up to.”

Jumabhoy added that RHG had the advantage of owning as well as managing its hotels. "We intend to firmly establish ourselves as the regional leader by growing to over 12,000 rooms in the region by 2020." Currently, the room inventory stands at about 2,600.

The company kicked off their development drive this year, opening the Rendezvous Kuala Lumpur.  In 2010, the Rendezvous Guilin, Rendezvous Fujairah and Rendezvous Christchurch will make their debut.
