UPDATE: Snow causes disruption at UK airports

Severe weather conditions are currently causing delays and cancellations at several UK airports.

London Luton Airport

London Luton Airport has been forced to cancel and divert around 30 flights this morning, including Easyjet and Aer Araan services. Visit the airport's website for a full list of affected services, as well as the following advice:

As a result of heavy snowfall overnight flights arriving at and departing from London Luton Airport are subject to delay, diversion or cancellation.

Flights have now resumed, however passengers or those meeting people at the airport are strongly advised to contact the airline.

The most up to date information will be posted on this website as soon as it is available.

London City Airport

London City's runway is now open again having been forced to close for a short time due to the adverse weather conditions. According to the airport, services are returning to normal but it continues to advise passengers to contact their airline for further information.

BAA

BAA's London airports - Heathrow, Gatwick (see below) and Stansted - are all experiencing severe flight delays and cancellations. Please visit their respective websites for live arrivals and departures information. BAA has issued the following advice:

Due to severe weather conditions across the UK and Europe, delays and cancellations are possible today. Passengers should check details of their flights with their airlines before setting off for the airport.

London Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport has issued the following statement:

Gatwick Airport has now re-opened following the earlier runway closure. A number of inbound and outbound flights have been affected and passengers are advised to contact their airline for the latest flight information.

We apologise for the disruption caused to our passengers’ travel plans.

Easyjet statement

As a result of significant snowfall across the UK and parts of Europe, easyJet, like many airlines, is experiencing disruption this morning.

In summary all flights due to depart Luton and Gatwick before 11.30am today have been cancelled, once these airports have reopened we will provide information on the flying programme for the rest of the day.

In addition a number of other flights across the airline's European network have also been cancelled.

Passengers are advised to check the website before they depart for the airport. Those whose flights have been cancelled, can either claim a refund by emailing customer services or arrange a free transfer by logging on to Manage Booking on easyjet.com.
