Continental Airlines has added new benefits to its OnePass frequent-flyer programme from January 1, 2010. The carrier joined Star Alliance on October 27, becoming the group's third US participant.
Platinum Elite members will be eligible to earn the new invitation-only Presidential Platinum Elite status based on their annual spending on travel on Continental, Continental Micronesia, Continental Express and Continental Connection flights. “This gives our top-tier customers an additional channel for earning points,” said Bessy Hui, marketing manager of Continental Airlines’ Hongkong office.
Additionally, Platinum Elite members who rack up at least 100,000 Elite qualification miles or 120 Elite qualification points will receive four one-way system-wide certificates to upgrade to domestic First Class, international BusinessFirst or international Business Class (found on CO’s smaller airlines on North American routes) with any published fare on Continental, Continental Micronesia or partner Copa Airlines, which flies from the US to Panama.
Perks that come with the Presidential Platinum Elite status include top priority for Elite upgrades and flight standby, a dedicated VIP phone line, and for those residing in Mainland US and Alaska annual fee waivers on CO’s Presidential PlusSM World Mastercard credit card. For those residing in Hawaii, Guam and points outside the US, they will receive 25,000 OnePass bonus miles.
Platinum Elite status is awarded to members who earn 75,000 Elite qualification miles or 90 Elite qualification points. To earn Presidential Platinum Elite status, one has to spend US$30,000.
The OnePass programme is going on its 22nd year of operation.
