Boeing is providing a webcast of the long-awaited first flight of its 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with the feed going live at 0940 Pacific Standard Time (1740 GMT) today (December 15).
Assuming no last minute hitches or bad weather, the Dreamliner will make its first flight today from the manufacturer's base outside Seattle. According to usatoday.com, the flight is scheduled for 1300 Eastern Standard Time (1800 GMT), with the aircraft due to take off from Paine Field in Everett, before landing in Boeing Field after a four-hour flight.
The Dreamliner had originally been due to take its first flight way back in 2007, but a series of delays and complications have pushed the date back until now. The live webcast of the flight includes audio from air traffic control, as well as a Google map of the aircraft's position, and a graphic showing where in the world visitors are accessing the site from.
