We couldn’t possibly feature all the festive packages and promotions meant to get travellers in the holiday mood. But here are a few notables that have come our way. We’ll list more in the run up to the Big Days of December 25 and January 1.
Frasers Shekou Shenzhen is offering a 5-night stay at CNY989 (US$144) nightly, with the sixth night for free until January 31. Other perks include a welcome hamper and daily breakfast.
Grand Millennium Beijing has several holiday rates: CNY600 (US$87) per room per night in a Superior Room; CNY688 (US$100) per room per night, including daily breakfast for one person, CNY768 (US$112) per room per night including daily breakfast for two persons. Internet comes free of charge. Valid from December 18 to January 4, 2010.
The Westin Beijing Chaoyang has minimum three-night room rate of CNY2,010 (US$294) from December 24 to January 3, 2010. Occupancy is either single or double.
Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Causeway Bay, the city’s newest hotel, is offering a special buffet menu between December 18 to January 1, 2010 priced from HK$238 (US$30). But this goes up to HK$638 (US$82) for the dinner buffet on the eves of Christmas and New Year at its all-day dining Kudos café that includes a glass of Piper Heidsieck Cuvee Brut NV Champagne. Then on December 25 and January 1, the price goes down to HK$598 (US$77) that also covers an unlimited flow of white wine, red wine, beer, orange juice and soft drinks. The Christmas and New Year’s countdowns happen at Club@28.
Regal Hongkong Hotel starts the “Santa Claus around Europe” Christmas Eve buffet from 1800 and ends it at 1230. Prices start from HK$458 (US$59) for adults and HK$358 (US$46) for children. At Zeffirino, special dining starts at 1800 and ending at 1200 for a four-course meal per person at HK$788 (US$101) or a six-course meal per person at HK$988 (US$127).
Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is running weekend packages during the holidays, starting from S$298 including breakfast and one-hour use of the outdoor tennis courts. For New Year, it has a one-night package for two persons, starting from S$878 (US$630) including in-room bottle of champagne and New Year’s eve gala dinner at One-Ninety and New Year’s Day brunch at Jiang -Nan Chun. For families, the rate starts from S$994 (US$714). There are separate prices for just booking the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve gala dinners.
The Sherwood Taipei teams up with the Kahala Hotels & Resort, Hawaii Tourism USA and other sponsors for the “Aloha Countdown Party” on December 31 in the ballroom. For NT$2,010 (US$62), it’s free flow of selected wines, beer, tropical cocktails and Hawaiian delicacies. A Hula dance show and lucky draw for a four-day stay at The Kahala are also on the programme. But if you’re taking advantage of the NT$13,200 (US$410) stay package, entry to the party is included, besides the one-night stay in a Deluxe Room, Toscana New Year Eve set menu for two and New Year Dim Sum set for two at Yi Yuan Chinese restaurant.
Metropolitan Bangkok’s holiday overnight stays include gala dinners on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The Christmas Glam promotion starts from US$200, single or US$250, double occupancy that comes with dinner at the hotel’s signature restaurant Cy’an and a bottle of wine as well. Other perks include breakfast, free yoga or stretch class at the COMO Shambhala Urban Escape and personal shopper’s assistance at the Club 21 shops. This is valid from December 23 to 27 for a minimum stay of two consecutive nights, with advance booking required. New Year Glitz promotion, starting from US$250, single or US$300, double occupancy, includes the gala dinner and a 375ml bottle of champagne at Cy’an, followed by free entry to welcome 2010 to the members-only Met Bar with brunch the next day. Valid from December 30 to January 2, 2010 for a minimum stay of two consecutive nights, along with daily breakfast. Advance booking required.
The Sukhothai Bangkok has lined up set menus at its signature restaurant La Scala for Christmas Eve, which is priced at THB3,500 (US$105) per person. The menu includes lobster, traditional cappelletti and crispy pancetta among others. For New Year’s eve, prices are THB4,500 (US$135) per person that includes seared duck foie gras and white truffle gnocchi among others. The New Year’s Eve countdown takes place at Zuk Bar with an international DJ revving up the spirit. A Jack Daniel’s, including four mixers, goes for THB2,200 (US$66) per bottle.
Celadon Palace Hue is promoting a two-night US$90 per person package from December 24 to 26 with breakfast, lunch and a choice of Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas day dinner priced at US$90. For New Year, the two-night US$175 Suite Package for two persons runs until March 31, 2010. Perks include airport transfers, breakfast, VIP welcome and 30 percent off all restaurants. There’s a 35 percent discount on extra nights, an extended check out to 1600 and a 25 percent discount on future room bookings valid from April 1 to December 31, 2010.
A last-minute holiday offer comes from The Nam Hai Hoi An of a charter package from Hongkong of five days and four nights (December 23 to 27). Prices start from HK$7,590 (US$979) per person in a one-bedroom villa or HK$12,090 (US$1,559) for single occupancy. There is also a HK$11,490 (US$1,482) rate for twin occupancy in a one-bedroom pool villa that comes with butler service, afternoon tea and pre-dinner snacks and drinks. The flight arrives in Danang, 30 minutes from the resort. Perks include, daily breakfast, transfers, accommodation and travel insurance.
