27 Nov 2009

China Southern has added a route from the Inner Mongolian city Hohhot to Hongkong.

Hohhot is a city of 2.5 million people and is the capital of China’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.

The flights are twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays, with flights leaving Hohhot Baita International Airport at 0800 and arriving in Hong Kong at 1310. The return flight departs at 1410 and arrives at 1900. The flights make a short stopover in Zhengzhou.

Until now travellers have had to transfer at other mainland hubs, such as Beijing and Shanghai, adding to travel times, or rely on irregular charter flights.

The carrier will also add an an international air route from Urumqi in Xinjiang to the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan.

The flight will take off every Tuesday from Urumqi at 2355 and arrive in Samarkand at 0240. The return flight will depart at 0410 and arrive at 0650.
