Frasers unveils Scottish boutique hotel

20 Nov 2009 by AndrewGough

Frasers Suites EdinburghSingapore-based Frasers Hospitality has added a twelfth hotel to its growing European portfolio with the Fraser Suites Edinburgh now officially open.

The 75-room hotel, situated on St Giles Street just off Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, is only Frasers’ second in Scotland and its twelfth in Europe.

The St Giles property itself dates back 130 years to the 1800s and is protected as a Grade-B listed building, maintaining many of the original features such as high ceilings and “ornate cornicing”.

There are ten different types of guestroom and suite, however all come with modern designer furniture, kitchenettes complete with microwave ovens and bathrooms with rainfall showers. Other mod cons include an iPod docking station and alarm, high-speed internet and flat-screen TVs.

The hotel has a gym, cafe and restaurant. Meetings facilities are due to open soon, and there is a free shuttle service into Edinburgh city centre.

Frasers said today’s launch capped a “record growth year” for the company which has seen 740 serviced apartments open in 2009.

The company hopes to next year debut in India and Budapest and open further properties in Japan and China.

Frasers' first European opening was the Fraser Suites Kensington in 2007, followed quickly by seven more in London, two in Paris and one in Glasgow.
