New Studio M hotel brand slated for Singapore debut

16 Nov 2009

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) has launched a new international hotel brand Studio M, with the first property marked for Singapore in the second quarter of 2010. The location will be on Nanson Road in the Robertson Quay entertainment precinct.

Studio M aims to offer both style and functionality with a focus on contemporary elegance combined with a high degree of connectivity. The first Studio M will have 365 rooms offering guests 24-hours integrated technology and Wi-Fi internet access.

Conceptualising the interiors is Piero Lissoni, known for his clean lines, clear materials and subtle colours typical of Italian design which seeks to achieve a sleek yet comfortable ambience. A unique feature of the hotel will be the open-air tropical deck, which provides cosy landscaped spaces lending themselves to business meetings and casual discussions.

"We plan to take this new brand global," said M&C chairman Kwek Leng Beng in a press statement. "The launch of Studio M expands our hotel offering and reaffirms our commitment to offering a wide variety of hotel styles to meet the diverse requirements of travellers."

The company has already received enquiries from the Middle East about bringing Studio M to the region.

M&C has a portfolio of 120 hotels worldwide covering several brands: Grand Millennium, the Millennium & Copthorne, and Kingsgates.
