Dusit International, one of Asia’s leading international hotel chains, marked a major milestone with the announcement of its first property in China.
Slated for a December 2010 opening, the 183-room Dusit Thani Sanya will be located on the coastline of Ziangshui Bay, the easternmost part of China’s most popular island destination.
“The development and opening of Dusit Thani Sanya will serve as a major milestone for our group in entering China,” said group CEO Chanin Donavanik. “We see this as a key strategic focus for our expansion. It marks the beginning of creating a network of properties in one of the most dynamic and vital economies in the world.”
Expected to be the resort’s distinctive mark will be its Thai-inspired architecture and interiors. The property is designed by Thailand’s well-known interior design company, P49 Design & Associates, in close collaboration with global architectural firm WHI.
“Thailand and China have a long shared heritage with an established history together for over a thousand years, which makes the blending of our two cultures a perfect synergy in today’s world of generic hotel cultures,” explained Donavanik. “Our core values are uniquely Thai. With our gracious traditions and wealth of experience gained throughout the years, we are confident in bringing our very best to make Dusit Thani Sanya the most successful resort on Hainan Island.
Lying in the meeting point of two bays, the location of the resort is considered to be the top three sites in Hainan by feng shui specialists. Thus, the resort has been designed to take advantage of every angle of the ocean views. Each of the 160 guestrooms and 23 suites is mapped out to overlook the South China Sea.
Other facilities in the resort will include meeting facilities, a gym and the Devarana Spa among others.
