Passengers on Continental Airlines flight CO98 Hongkong-New York-Newark have been experiencing the carrier's new flat-bed BusinessFirst seats.
The product is found on Boeing B777 aircraft, which is deployed on routes from Newark to Beijing, Shanghai, New Delhi, Frankfurt, Hongkong, London-Heathrow, Mumbai, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv and Tokyo among others. The airline is expected to complete the retrofitting of the entire B777 fleet by August 2011.
Continental’s new BusinessFirst seats allow passengers to lie completely flat, reclining 180-degrees and providing 2m of sleeping space in the fully extended position. Electronic controls enable them to easily adjust the seat configuration to many different ways, including lumbar support and fully extended sleep positions. Laptop power, headset and USB plugs are conveniently tucked above the customer’s shoulder and iPod connectivity is also available at the seat. Movies and games are enjoyed on 15.4-inch video monitors.
B757-200 and B767-400 aircraft, serving Continental's European stops, will also be outfitted with the enhanced seating.
Meanwhile, 25 B787 aircraft on order will come with the new seats. The airline hopes to complete the fleet retrofitting by August 2012.
