Mexicana will become a full member of the Oneworld airline alliance on November 10, with subsidiaries Mexicana Click and Mexicana Link joining as affiliate members on the same date.

The Mexican carrier announced it would be joining the alliance last April (see online news April 10, 2008), and has been supported by founder Oneworld member Iberia during the 18-month implementation programme.

Previously a Star Alliance member up until 2004, Mexicana will become the 11th full member of the Oneworld alliance, with Russian carrier S7 Airlines due to join in 2010. From November 10 members of the MexicanaGo frequent flyer programme will be able to earn and redeem mileage awards on all Oneworld partners, and Conquer and Explore cardholders will enjoy Emerald and Sapphire Oneworld status respectively .

Mexicana and its subsidiaries will add a total of 24 new destinations throughout Mexico to the Oneworld network, plus new routes to Edmonton in Canada and Oakland in the US.
