Holiday Inn has built an entire hotel room in New York out of stacked key cards, to mark the hotel group's 1,200th relaunched property.
The 400 sq ft key card hotel was built by the current world record holder in cardstacking, Bryan Berg, and is the largest card structure he has ever built. He has created a bedroom, bathroom and lobby complete with life-size furniture, out of Holiday Inn key cards.
It will be open to the public until September 21 at the South Street Seaport in downtown Manhattan. Berg is also set to build a mini Empire State building in the lobby out of playing cards.
The $1 billion relaunch of the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands aims to improve the quality and consistency at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels around the world, with around 3,300 hotels receiving a facelift. For more information see online news September 4, 2008.
