Lighting has received special focus in the newly launched Club Rooms of the Regal Kowloon Hotel in Tsimshatsui. According to hospitality veteran and hotel general manager John Girard, this is one of the most important features expected by guests of the service benefits, besides a good night’s sleep and clean bathrooms.
“We have installed LED reading lights by the bedside and others have been placed strategically in the room that provide good illumination and yet are not blinding,” he said.
The 27-year-old hotel recently converted 102 rooms, which occupied two floors, to Club category, resulting in a total of 193 rooms for business travellers. A blend of white tones and contemporary furnishings create a feeling of space and freshness. The prerequisite mod cons are at hand such as the wall-mounted 32-inch LCD TV, wireless broadband internet, iPod speaker and direct in-room fax.
The usual perks include personalised check in and check out at the Club Lounge, along with free flow of beverages and cocktails, free pressing, reduced prices on laundry and dry cleaning and free use of the conference room.
With healthy demand in the Hongkong market for this type of room product, no introductory offer has been set. Said Girard: "Our corporate rates are already very good."
