German carrier Lufthansa has opened a new lounge within Munich airport’s Terminal 2, for premium members of its Miles and More programme.
The 700sqm Senator lounge opened today (September 1) in the airport’s EU departures area, and is part of a €150 million upgrade programme for new and existing lounges worldwide between now and 2013.
The lounge features a bistro area with a menu including Bavarian specialities such as Leberkas mit Brezen (grilled meatloaf with pretzel), a central bar, three TV screens, German and international newspapers and magazines, and shower facilities.
In other news, Lufthansa has announced a codeshare agreement with US carrier Jet Blue, allowing passengers to connect on to domestic US flights from New York JFK or Boston to 12 destinations including Buffalo, Pittsburgh and New Orleans. The codeshare will commence at the end of September, pending approval from the US Department of Transportation. Lufthansa acquired a 15.6 per cent share in Jet Blue last year.
