Haneda to standardise hand-carry rules

28 Aug 2009

Tokyo's Haneda airport, which handles mostly domestic flights, will introduce new baggage regulations from December 1.

Currently each airline applies different baggage rules for different aircraft . However, under new common regulations carry-on bags must weigh no more than 10kg and be no more than 45 cm tall, 20 cm wide and 35 cm deep for a plane with less than 100 seats.

For larger aircraft, the dimensions are 55×25×40 cm.

The new regulations will be adopted by 17 carriers, including JAL, ANA, Air Do, Skynet Asia Airways and Skymark Airlines.
