Newly opened hotel spas in Asia

9 Aug 2009

Going for a spa treatment is almost de rigueur for frequent travellers who want to de-stress after a hectic day of meetings.

Below are some of the new hotel spas in the region to consider on your next trip:

  • The Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has launched its Serena Spa. It provides a choice of different types of massage from anti-stress head, neck and shoulder massage, Thai Yoga massage, Sports massage and Aromatic Back massage among others.
The 675sqm facility features separate male and female changing areas with steam, shower and ice room; five massage rooms with private shower; a back and foot massage room; a pedicure and manicure room; and a herbal bath room.
  • InterContinental Hotels and Resorts (IHG) has introduced two new spa treatments using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal spa products that are created by Eu Yan Sang. The spa treatments and herbal products are only available in IHG properties in Greater China.

The two new treatments are based on the “Yin and Yang” principle. The Yin ritual is geared for relaxing to help calm the body and mind. It also acts like a detox treatment. The Yang ritual, on the other hand, boosts the Qi or energy. It also improves circulation by clearing any blockages.

The treatments use 100 percent natural herbs with no additive such as artificial colourings, preservatives and artificial fragrances.

  • Grant Hyatt Doha recently unveiled the 4,000sqm Arabian-style Jaula Spa, featuring 12 treatment suites, a relaxation area with a pool, a health club and a ladies’ salon among others. The VIP and couples suites include a whirlpool and a lounging area.

Spa treatments at Jaula Spa (part of the Hyatt Pure collection of spa) range from massages, scrubs to facials, all using natural ingredients from Qatar.

There is also a spa boutique located adjacent to the spa lobby carrying products from Anne Semonin and Aromatherapy Associates.
