Intercontinental Hotels Group says that a quarter of a billion dollars is currently being spent on renovations of properties within its US Crowne Plaza portfolio.
The hotel group says that major renovations by hotel owners means its expects up to 50 per cent of its Crowne Plaza portfolio in the US will be completely renovated by the end of 2009.
Among the properties to have benefitted from recent refurbishment projects include the Crowne Plaza in New York’s Times Square, which underwent an $85 million renovation programme, and the Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandra in Washington DC, which completed renovations of its guest rooms, meeting space, restaurant and lobby areas in March this year.
IHG says that over 50 Crowne Plaza properties are currently undergoing "some form of resurgence", with others expected to follow soon.
