US Airways looks set to drop its flights from London Gatwick to Philadelphia this September.
The carrier’s website is showing no availability out of Gatwick to the airline’s US hub from September 8 onwards, and airlineroute.blogspot.com (which reports changes to the airline GDS systems) is reporting that the last flight from Philadelphia to Gatwick will take place on September 7.
The news will be yet another blow for Gatwick’s long-haul aspirations, with Delta recently announcing it is to drop flights from the airport to Cincinnati from the end of August (see online news June 15), and BA ceasing its Gatwick-New York service (which was relaunched last year) from October 25 (see online news May 29).
US Airways recently inaugurated transatlantic flights between Birmingham and Philadelphia, and also serves the US city from London Heathrow, Manchester, Dublin and Shannon.
