AirAsia to add second daily Bali-Perth flight

10 Jul 2009

AirAsia has announced that it will double the frequency of its Bali-Perth service before the daily service has even launched.

The inaugural flight on the route is scheduled for July 17 but the airline has decided to increase that to two flights a day from July 19, as AirAsia looks to further establish its Bali hub.

“Our loads for forthcoming three months are running high past 90 percent and we feel it is timely to add a second frequency,” said Kathleen Tan, AirAsia regional head of commercial.

The announcement of the frequency increase comes with a promotion offering all-in one-way fares of IDR299,000 (US$29) and A$99 (US$77) between Bali and Perth. The promotion is valid for booking until July 12 and is for travel between August 19 and April 30, 2010.

The Kuala Lumpur-based airline first announced its direct Bali-Perth flight in early May (see previous article). Direct flights were previously only operated by Garuda Indonesia.

Perth is the fourth international destination that AirAsia is serving from its Bali hub following Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Singapore.
