Virgin Atlantic is reducing its London Heathrow-Hongkong flight frequency as part of a 7 percent reduction in capacity come winter season 2009/10.
The twice-daily flight will become once daily starting September 27.
In addition, Virgin will cease operations of its London Heathrow-Chicago flight during the winter season.
The cuts are a result of lower demand, and the carrier could lay off 600 of its workers in a bid to reduce redundancies.
“The outlook for the industry is as bleak as ever and all airlines are having to shrink their businesses,” said Steve Ridgway, chief executive, Virgin Atlantic.
