Courtyard by Marriott debuts in Istanbul

12 Jun 2009 by Sara Turner

Hotel group Marriott International has opened its first Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Turkey. The Courtyard by Marriott Istanbul International Airport has 262 rooms and is located five kilometres from Ataturk International Airport.

General manager Wolfgang Koller said: “This hotel is designed specifically for European business travellers who want all the conveniences of an upscale hotel but in a more casual, open design where they can be totally at ease.

“Istanbul is a thriving business hub and a world class destination – the perfect location for this global brand.”

There is a business centre and internet corner in the lobby and wireless internet access is available throughout the public areas. The Caretta Spa offers a gym, indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and four treatment rooms.

For conferences and events, the hotel has a 300sqm ballroom and seven smaller meeting rooms with natural daylight. The hotel’s restaurant, Oleo Pazzo, serves Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine, or snacks and drinks can be bought 24 hours a day at the Grab and Go market in the lobby.

A garden surrounds the property, featuring 4,200 plants transferred from seven areas of Turkey, including the Black Sea and Anatolian region.

Courtyard is Marriott International’s largest brand, with more than 800 hotels in 28 countries and a further 200 set to open around the world over the next three years. Marriott recently opened its first new-look Courtyard property in the UK at Gatwick airport (click here for a review), and has announced the new Courtyard by Marriott Moscow Paveletskaya in Russia, which is scheduled to open in 2010.
