Hotel Missoni debuts in Edinburgh

8 Jun 2009 by Sara Turner

The Rezidor Hotel Group has opened its first property in collaboration with the Italian fashion brand Missoni, with Scotland’s capital chosen to host the luxury hotel.

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh, under creative director Rosita Missoni, aims to showcase the signature style of the fashion and interiors label, with bold use of colour and striking patterns.

According to Kurt Ritter, Rezidor’s chief executive, Hotel Missoni Edinburgh is “a totally new breed of hotel”.  “I’ve seen so many of these hotels with grey, black and brown and minimalist design,” he said, “but this is distinctive and colourful. As soon as you walk through the doors you know its Missoni.”

The 136-room hotel is located on the corner of George IV Bridge and the Royal Mile, within walking distance of Edinburgh Waverley station, and features the Italian-influenced restaurant Cucina and Bar Missoni, as well as a gym and meeting facilities.

Opening rates start at £180, including high-speed internet access, two pieces of free laundry, newspapers, free local calls, a healthy minibar, premium movies and an in-room coffee machine. For an extra £15 the “all-inclusive” package also includes breakfast. When Business Traveller checked standard rates for later in the year (midweek in September) the rates started at £210, with a 44-sqm Missoni Suite from £400.

For more details of the hotel see online news March 22. Rezidor is also due to open a second Hotel Missoni property in Kuwait later this year.
