All passengers on Continental Airlines’ Transpacific routes will enjoy enhanced inflight entertainment following the completion of Audio Video on Demand (AVOD) system installation on all of its Boeing B777 aircraft.
These systems are now available on all B777 aircraft, which are deployed on Continental’s Transpacific routes such as Hongkong-New York, Beijing-New York, Shanghai-New York, Tokyo-New York and Tokyo-Houston.
The project, which was delivered by Hongkong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (Haeco) over a period of 20 months, involved removing, modifying and reinstalling all the cabin seats and rerouting all required cables to other parts of the plane so as to free up space for a newer and larger crew rest area which now sleeps six crew members.
Reconfiguration also means that Continental’s B777 aircraft now offers an additional four BusinessFirst and three economy seats.
In addition, Continental plans to commence installation of new flatbed seats in its BusinessFirst class in September. The new flatbeds will also be installed by Haeco, which has provided aircraft maintenance and structural modification services to Continental since September 1996.
