Macau flag carriers Air Macau and Viva Macau are set to offer scheduled flights to Tokyo from March 2010 when Narita International Airport increases capacity.
This follows talks in Tokyo, altering an existing agreement allowing Macau airlines to operate scheduled flights to anywhere in Japan except Narita and Haneda airports, which, at the time the pact was signed, boasted full capacity. Under the new terms, Air Macau and Viva Macau will each be able to offer three scheduled flights per week to the Japanese capital.
Air Macau currently operates a daily Macau-Osaka service, while Viva Macau mounts twice weekly chartered flights – not covered by regular air services agreements – between Macau and Tokyo.
