Low-cost carrier Jetstar has announced greater capacities for three routes out of Australia in anticipation of increasing traffic through the carrier’s international hub in Darwin.
More seats will be offered on Jetstar’s daily Melbourne-Darwin, Darwin-Denpasar and Cairns-Darwin-Singapore services, adding more than 1,000 domestic and international seats to and from Darwin each week.
The 177-seat Airbus A320s currently plying the routes will be replaced by larger 214-seat A321s.
The changes will take place on June 10 for the Cairns-Darwin-Singapore route, and July 7 for Melbourne-Darwin and Darwin-Denpasar.
Jetstar chief executive officer Bruce Buchanan said his airline will continue to offer JetSaver Light web fares from A$159 (US$124) one way between Darwin and Melbourne, A$179 (US$139) one way between Darwin and Singapore, and A$209 (US$163) one way between Darwin and Denpasar.
