Dutch hotel group CitizenM has opened its second property in Amsterdam, a 215-room hotel in the city’s financial district. The property joins the group’s first hotel which opened at Schiphol airport last year (see online news November 7, 2007).
CitizenM Amsterdam City is located on Prinses Irenestraat in the city’s financial district, and features design elements including Andy Warhol artwork in the lobby, along with a “Marshmallow” sofa by designer George Nelson.
Rooms are all identical and were prefabricated offsite, before being stacked on top of the T-shaped ground floor. They feature wall-to-wall windows, power rain showers, king-size beds, mood lighting, and free wifi and in-room movies. There is also a 24-hour bar/cafe, plus a larger bar and two “cocktail stations”.
