New Park Hotel property opens in China

3 May 2009 by Mark Caswell
Singapore-based Park Hotel Group has opened a new property in Xian, China.

The five-star Grand Park Xian hotel, previously the Grand Castle Hotel, was acquired by the hotel group in 2008 and has since been rebranded and renovated. It is located in the centre of the business district.

The 338-bedroom hotel has a café and lobby lounge, as well as meeting rooms and a ballroom. The Empress Banquet restaurant serves ‘ancient-style’ Chinese cuisine.

Park Hotel Group has hotels in Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Japan, with further expansion in China planned over the next five years.

Park Hotel Group’s director Allen Law said: "Despite the downturn, we are taking a long-term perspective of things and intend to continue exploring opportunities for expansion in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

“China’s long-term growth projections point to healthy tourism growth rates, in both the inbound and outbound sectors.”

Park Hotel Group is also due to open two new properties in Singapore: Grand Park Orchard is due to open in 2010; Park Hotel Clarke Quay is due to open this month.
