Hilton to open second Croatian hotel

25 Apr 2009 by Mark Caswell

The former Hotel Marjan in Split is to reopen as a Hilton hotel later this year, following an extensive refurbishment of the property.

The 314-room Hilton Marjan Split will open in three stages, with an initial launch scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year. This will involve the opening of 220 rooms, the lobby area, the hotel’s restaurants and bars, spa and wellness facilities, and three meeting rooms. The second phase will add further conference space in the first quarter of 2010, with the remaining 94 rooms due to open in the third quarter of next year.

The property is located on the waterfront, within walking distance of the city’s historic centre, and will join the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik as the second Hilton-branded hotel in Croatia. The Hilton Marjan Split will be run under a franchise agreement with Adriatic D.D. (part of the Kerum Group), which currently owns three independent properties in the greater Split area.
